Nice track in the 'warp'-tradition. Good sounds are used in all of the four tracks, especially in the background. The rhythmic parts in the first two tracks I find less attractive, the just don't seem to have that flowlike Plaid or Squarepusher have in their tracks. The third and fourth track are more laidback, a bit more minimal and they sound more natural. They do have that flow and they make this a fine release..

Und alle diejenigen unter Euch, die sich gerne in die Untiefen von experimenteller Musik begeben, sollten sich unbedingt und in Ruhe das Ambient-Scape-Frickel-Album von Ruben D'Hers geben. Das bewegt sich zwischen ähnlichen Polen wie Rechenzentrum und Future Sounds Of London, indem es unterschiedliche Stimmungen, Sounds, Samples und Eindrücke gegeneinander abhebt oder auch diese gerne mal in einem Wirrwarr ineinanderquetscht. Sehr arty, aber nicht ohne Tiefe. Manche Dinge brauchen ihre Zeit und wer behauptet, dass Musik immer entspannen muss??? Schon definitiv eine Perle.

Now, this is a hard one. Usually, when listening to some new music, one ends up with the same categories, ambient, post-rock, electronica and what so ever. Ruben D'Hers cd seems just to pass thru them, you're thinking of one category for three seconds, and you're led to some unknown territory the second after. So if i might dare a comparison, i'll say that "todo esta en descanso" stands somewhere between dark ambient, Tortoise, and Sigur Ros. But that doesn't say nothing about this record's singularity. The only thing i'm sure about when listening to this music, which i'm doing every now and then since i downloaded it without being able to get it more familiar, is that my heart breaks each time the 9th and the 12th tracks begin. Truely an outstanding release.

Porciones borrosas es la pieza que abre el álbum y es un paseo entre pasajes atonales, siniestros y amenazadores, que recuerdan al trabajo temprano de Ussachecvsky. En Las Polillas, el free jazz de una guitarra juguetea con hiss* grabado y manipulado a propósito, entre coros etéreos. Nube baja es un reino de caos, enloquecedor al principio, y aterrorizante desde la mitad hasta el final. Compuesto por ruidos producidos con una guitarra, intrigantes e imperceptibles sonidos de fondo, voces fantasmales y violines, es la pieza mas larga. A vigilia y el nácar retoma el free jazz de la segunda pieza con majestuosidad para dejar el terror atrás y traernos de vuelta a terrenos mas familiares. desenso-sedoso continua por la misma vía, añadiendo un violin grave y severo, voces, efectos producidos con manipulación de cinta y sonidos nocturnos de ranas e insectos, con un efecto hipnótico y melancólico. Es una de mis preferidas. Primer manual para lo inexpresivo es experimento y exploración: el ruido y el feedback generado por una guitarra electroacústica. Almuerzo reta la definición de compás y abusa del balance de los canales derecho e izquierdo sin ninguna compasión. Mi brazo Roto es el primo de A vigilia y el nácar y probablemente la pieza mas accesible de todo el álbum.. al comienzo. Despues de la segunda mitad el ruido la corroe deliciosamente haciéndola casi irreconocible. El Verdadero Dios nos trae unos violines seductores que invitan a penetrar a un mundo misterioso. Sublime y desconcertante. Tres cosas incesantes pt.1 vuelve a la hipnosis con sonidos de motor electrico, y al caos, para dejar correr la locura de un avant-jazz atrevido. La fiesta se va a otra parte y la canción termina atmosferica y pensativa. Tres cosas incesantes pt.2 comienza con percusión y ruido experimental lleno de adrenalina, sin mirar para los lados, para luego jugar con violines que casi parecieran hablar. Como si el viaje no hubiera estado lleno de emoción, lo mejor se guarda para el final. Todo esta en descanso, la pieza que le da nombre al álbum, es melancólica, fantasmal y escalofriante, como si por un instante ocurriera la reunión hipotética de Isao Tomita, Laurie Anderson y Ussachecvsky en Caracas. Un ruido de fondo amenaza con destruir la pieza, pero la perdona, con el más encantador de los efectos. Anna y las palmas cierra el álbum con la sensación de haber visto una película emocionante y apasionante. De haber estado en las atracciones de un parque de diversiones y salir de allí, al terminar el paseo.

I have to say I really enjoyed this release. Beautiful, haunting electro / acoustic works, calm & peaceful but at times horrifying "picture-esque". I nice combination of ambiance and gentle music that you really cant quite label. There's allot of music you can burn, but I highly recommend putting this one to disc or send to your mp3 player. It's true harmony for your ears!

Exploring the Fringes the Experimental - Six tracks definitely exploring the fringes of the experimental genre.

"Flüssterwald", "Silhouette der Nacht" and "Steppenwolf" - each lead off with lonely, melancholy sounds with slight discord and eventually merge with disco-like, jazzy beats. "Auf der Jagt" offers strange electronic sounds, odd loops, disconcerting beats, and even a brief minimal house-like interlude. "Spuren in Schnee" is a favorite with its sad, cold electronics, driving beats, and space-filling organ chords that emerge in the final few minutes of the track. "Die Gestalt am Fluss" is another favorite that leads off with abstract, discordant electronics that evolve into some beautiful, etheral electronic ambience with continuing hints of discord.

Angesichts der Releasefülle von Kazooo vermag man zu denken, dass dieser sein Kopfkissen direkt neben dem Mischpult liegen hat, um möglichst wenig Zeit mit anderen Dingen wie Musikmachen verbringen zu müssen. Mit der "Exposed EP" auf 2063 Music beschert uns der Karlsruher fünf neue minimale Dubhouser und untermauert nebenbei seinen Status als einer der produktivsten Netlabel Produzenten. Im Titeltrack "Exposed" gleiten sanfte Dubs zwischen sorgsam gestreuten Restgeräuschen, und fühlen sich dabei so an, als wären sie einem federleichten Traum entsprungen. "Comaforce" gefällt mit seinen druckvollen ausbalancierten Dubs, die dem stilsicheren Pad eine nautische Deepness verleiht. Sichere Tools für den entspannten morgendlichen 4/4 Floor.

Kazooo zeigt uns hier auf der 5 Track EP sparsamen, minimalen Techhouse, der mit nackten Beats getackert wurde und doch mit bittersüßen Kirschen in Form von teilweise warmen Chords besetzt wird. Gerade die repetetiven Vorgänge schaffen hier eine Clubstimmung, nahe der After "Rush" Hour, wenn man beginnt, seinen erhitzten Körper wieder auf Normaltempo herunter zu schalten. Wer auf Monotonie zwischen nackten Atmosphären, fetten Beats und doch hier und da von bezirzten Gefrickel, zu detroitartigen Chords steht, ist bei kAzooo an der richtigen Adresse.

Der 2063 Labelkopf Martin springt manchmal aus seiner Ambientliege auf den gepflegen Tanzflur. Mit seiner LP Sparse Rotation hat Kazooo auch hier seine Daten hinterlassen. Obwohl sein Name bereits auf Vinyl gepresst wurde, bleibt der Symphat der Netaudioszene erhalten. Für die Exposed Ep hat er 5 Tracks aus dem Ärmel geschüttelt, die immer von einer wohligen warmen Schicht umgeben sind. Als Fan trockener Beats und angesichts des Hamburger Wetters laufen diese Tracks wie ein perfekter Chai-Latte über den Gehörgang in meinen Magen. Sparsame Melodien setzen sich in die Mitte zwischen Wärme und digitaler Klopfmaschine. Fein austariert und erstklassig arrangiert. Eine Wohltat.

phoenelai - rebuilding the structures (63_052)

Der Amerikaner Phoenelai, dessen Artistname dem Zufallsgenerator entspringt, schickt sich an auf 2063 Music zum gern gesehenen Gast zu werden. Seine zweite Veröffentlichung "Rebuilding the Structures" schafft es über 20 Minuten sehr darke Szenarien zu erschaffen, die den industriellen Verfall aufgrund von Auszehrung natürlicher Ressourcen hörbar macht. Im Intro lässt Phoenelai rationalisierte Flächen ineinander gleiten, deren Figur im dritten Stück wieder auftaucht. Langsam füllt er dabei den brummenden Raum mit versprengten, entfernten Field Recordings, die nach schwermetallverarbeitender Fabrik klingen. Auf "Visiting Three" zieht sich Phoenelai fasst vollständig zurück, lediglich ein paar schwer resonante Flächen surren im Raum wie Drohgebärden, und deren stringente Vorboten aus dem Intro lassen vermuten dass die Apokalypse schon Einzug erhielt. Auf "Tearing down the Structures" bricht Phoenelai die Simulation jedoch ab um auf "Structure Two" aus den erdrückenden Tiefen aufzutauchen und die Bohrinsel wieder zu betreten. Enorm konzentrierter, spannender postindustrial Microsound aus einer Zeit die vermutlich noch vor uns liegt. Sound auf den man sich aufgrund der vielen ruhigen Passagen konzentrieren muß, da er sonst nicht so wahrgenommen wird.

monostatic - sub drx introduxion (63_051)

Tomas Lipka aus Bratislava hat es gerne Mono, denn nach dem Monoide Album auf Realaudio ist nun Monostatic auf 2063 Music dran. Die vier Tracks sind zwar allesamt ohne Titel, hätten aber durchaus welche verdient. "01" ist eine klebrige Dubdauerfläche die schön dront, da clever gepannt und dabei spannend knistert. Das zweite Stück bröselt feiner über der weichen Fläche und lässt einen ganz tief darin versinken. "03" baut sich aus einem isolierten Loungepad schön subtil auf bis es irgendwann von verhüllten Dubs umwoben wird, die da nicht so ganz drumrumpassen wollen. Der vierte Track ist ein weicher Dub auf dem im digitalen Stroh geklöppelt wird. Schön!

Die 50. Veröffentlichung nimmt man gern zum Anlass eine Werkschau mit vielen Freunden und einem kleinen Blick in die Zukunft zu veranstalten. Das Label 2063 hat eine wirklich behutsame Veröffentlichungspolitik. Es erscheint dann und wann mal eine EP, drei LPs eher so am Rande, von Künstlern die vor allem eins haben: Individualität. Die Zusammenstellung ist gemäß der Labelpolitik eine Mischung aus Klangexperimenten und geläufiger, tanzbarer Musik. Die experimentellen Stücke stehen eigentlich alle für sich selbst und doch glaube ich zu erkennen, dass sich 2063 ein bischen in Richtung digital Noise entwickelt. Schräg und verschroben auch der „Neue“ Atomic Ages. Seit 10 Jahren sitzt er in einem Kaiserslauterer Keller und schraubt an seinen Sounds. Die alten Freunde [in]anace, Digitalis und Kazooo finden die Bassdrum und runden die Feier solide ab.

Amazing music. Love the sounds and the beats. How the energies is used to push the rythms and also made to trigger some movement way back in the soundscape is masterly done. And then, the melodic tracks comes in as a great contrast! Great work!

Raemus's superb Nine Days is that many tracks of deceptively simple music, raw percussive-oriented songs that leave plenty of room for the mind to wander about in. The individual instrumentals are, for the most part, as spare as minimal techno, but without the resounding dub that lends that genre its loungey depth and allure. Instead, Raemus settles, with a few exceptions, for the brittle. Most of the tracks follow the pattern of the lead entry, "Saturday Night," which is built from little more than a handful of acoustic knocks and pings, with the occasional gong-like reverberation — like a DJ doing his best to entertain a crowd during a blackout. Each entry adds something to the equation. The closing of "Friday Morning" pounds back and forth and into the distance while squeaky metallic sounds crowd the foreground. "Thursday Afternoon" adds a bass line and distant soundwash (perhaps a nod to the Brian Eno album of that name), but keeps to the reticent mode. "Monday Morning" drops in snippets of treated spoken words. "Tuesday Afternoon" stands out, trading percussion for minimalist organ sounds, the fugue riffs reminiscent of Philip Glass's early-career loft jams. And "Thursday Morning" applies those organ sounds to a thick consortium of drones.

I "felt" into it - closed my eyes, put the volume up and catched every little sound of this - I really ain't ashamed to say so - masterpiece. It's... I can't describe it. You have to feel it. Soundrix ist ein Soulseek-Artist, der es aus irgend welchen Gründen leider doch nicht auf die Compilation geschafft hat. Basisdemokratie sucks eben doch. Soundrix dagegen begeistert, und zwar mit einem verspielten Track, der uns in die Tiefen einer unterirdischen Dub-Welt führt. Hier rieselt Sand von der Decke, in den Ecken huscht und tropft es, die Lichter werfen seltsame Schatten an die Wand. Es ist warm und feucht und das Echo klingt aus dem Dunkel zurück. Klingt das jetzt zu finster? Unsinn, es ist einfach großartig hier unten.

833-45 - Deadfire ep (63_046)

K.M. Krebs sounds like a scientific measurement, but in fact it's the name of a prolific musician who uses field recordings extensively in the production of ambient music. Krebs also records under the moniker 833-45, whose latest release is Deadfire, a free five-track MP3 EP available from a "netaudio" label called 2063music (album here; label here). The tracks on Deadfire include variations on white noise, from the caustic ("A Facade of Thorns") to the rhythmic ("White Phasing Pulse") to the downright environmental ("Scatted Mod"). An entry titled "Wraith" introduces drum patterns that are the most "musical" element here, especially when they're set against what appear to be diffuse CB radio broadcasts. Those distant voices also pervade "Call Tone B," which is particularly memorable for how it switches gears two thirds of the way through, moving quite suddenly from a natural sound (birds, perhaps) to a technological one (the "call tone" of its title).
